BALI, one of famous world destination. Located in central time zone of Indonesia, Bali offers distinct uniqueness among other 17.504 islands that chain along Indonesia archipelago. It has rich arts and cultures root deep in every corner of the island, no wonder many travellers fulfilled their curiousity to explore the island. Likewise for couples who want to get married or just capture their beautiful moments, Bali is one of the most desirable destinations to come.

After more than 7 years roaming around the island capturing picturesque scene with our couples, we summarize our top destinations for prewedding in Bali.

1. Tamblingan Lake

Located in northside of Bali, Tamblingan lies in a plateau inside an ancient volcanic caldera about 1200 meters above sea level, temperatures could be 16-18 ^oC in the morning. It takes two hoursdrive from Denpasar, and best time to shoot when sunrise around 6 am. There’s also forest surround the lake with some big trees aged hundreds year. After the lake we can go to nearby waterfall to shoot such as Munduk or Sekumpul., but it depends on the light condition and timing. Since the surface a little bit muddy at the lake we recommend you to wear a flat footed footwear. We also suggest light dress to wear for easier move from one spot to another.

Best Time to Shoot : Morning 6am – 9am

What to Wear : We suggest Semi formal suit paired with light dress, or casual outfit as long as you comfort and easier to moves around.

Distance : 2.5 hours from Denpasar

2. Bedugul Botanical Garden

Nestled in the refreshingly cool, mountainous region of Bedugul in central Bali, the 157-hectare Garden is an easy day trip, around 90 minutes drive from Denpasar. This place is mix of green open space, landscape garden, and tall trees forest. We usually do a session here as a second spots, after morning session in the lake or waterfall. Formal dress or a casual one is suited for this location.

Best Time to Shoot : Morning 8am – 11am

What to Wear : You can wear your wedding dress here or if you want a bit relax casual outfit also great.

Distance : 90 minutes from Denpasar

3. Munduk Waterfall

North Bali is fame for several beautiful waterfalls, one of our favorites is Munduk Waterfall. Just 20 minutes drive from Tamblingan Lake we could reach this waterfall. Then we still need to walk from the parking lot around 15-minutes through local village full of clove and coffee plantations to witness the magnificent view and hear rushing sound of the waterfall. This place quite popular for tourist trekking route. Light pastel dress with chic slippers of flat shoes will be great. But, if you wondered how cold is the water on your feet, barefoots are welcomed.

4. Sekumpul Waterfall

This twin waterfall located up north than the lake, around 40 minutes drive from the lake. Sekumpul is for adventurous one, we have to walk 15 minutes down the rural path and steps. It is really worth to visit, one of bucketlist waterfall in Bali. Casual and light outfit is very recommend for shoot here. Best time to shoot here is in the morning arround 8.30 am.

To shoot here sometimes is very tricky about the timing, if we start the morning session at the lake Tamblingan, we must finish at the lake arround 8 am to catch the best light here.

Best Time to Shoot : Morning 8.30am – 10am

What to Wear : We suggest casual or light weight dress, there will be several walks and moves around in the session. Bring also towel since you will get wet by the sparkled waterfall dew that flies around.

5. Batur Mountain Area

Located at north east of the island, Batur Mountain is part of UNESCO Global Geopark. Best known for the glorious sunrise view, sometimes along with the misty fog rolling down through the valley. What unique about Batur is there are several spots in the area, one of the favourite is Black Lava that lies on the caldera of Mount Batur. Be ready to wake up early as it need about 2 hours to reach this area in the morning around 6 am to get the best light. Then after the Black Lava we can go to the Savanna grass field or Pines Forest nearby. Light weight dress/simple wedding gown or any casual outfit suited for the place.

6. Pinggan Hill

Wide scenic view of Batur mountain and the caldera with some misty fog sweeping down the village, this place known best for the Sunrise. Pinggan hill place way up north from the Batur Area, need 2,5 hours to reach the place from Denpasar. This place also famous for camp site, plan session on weekdays to avoid some crowd. Since the best time is same with Batur Area or Tamblingan Lake you have to choose one to start the morning session. For the outfit any simple long dress or gown works well on the site, as long as you comfort can easily move around the area. Warm coat and boots will be great also.

7. Tibumana Waterfall

Tibumana waterfall located in central part of the island, This waterfall is one routes with Batur mountain or Pinggan hill as a start in the morning. Tibumana is easy waterfall to reach only 40 minutes from Denpasar or one hour from Batur Mountain. The steps down is quite friendly to walk through, just takes 5-10 minutes walk from the entrance. Simple dress and barefoot is good combination since the surface arround the waterfall is soft soil. You can also take a dip into the refreshing water, just remember to bring towels.

What to Wear : We suggest simple casual outfit, barefoot are welcomed.

8. Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Located in Bangli Regency, Tukad Cepung waterfall is a hidden gem that recently popular among tourist. To reach the waterfall we need 1 hour drive from Denpasar. If you take morning session in Batur this waterfall is perfect place to do the second spot other than Tibumana Waterfall. It takes 15 minutes to go down to the waterfall from the parking lot. Walk through some stairs, and you can find river bank surround by rocks and caves you need to walk in ankle-depth water to reach the waterfall. If we’re lucky we can catch sunrays that’s break through the trees upper the rocks.

Best Time to Shoot : 9.00 am – 10.00 am

What to Wear : We suggest simple, Casual and comfort outfit, wear flip flop or rubber shoes since we gonna walk trough water.

9. Ceking Ricefield – Tegalalang – Ubud

Most famous ricefield in Bali located in Tegalalang (up north from Ubud), only take 1 hour drive from Denpasar. If you stay arround Ubud center just need arround 20 minutes to the ricefield. It’s a starting point for morning session same like Tamblingan lake, Pinggan Hill or Batur Area so you have to choose one of those location to start. This place perfect for those who want take just halfday session, after shoot at the ricefield we can go to Blangsinga Waterfall nearby. We recommend to wear something light and simple as we gonna roam around the ricefield. Best time to shoot here in the morning around 6.30 am.

10. Campuhan Hill

Not far from central Ubud, there’s a place that you wish could be your backyard view at home. Campuhan hill laid on backside of Ubud between two rivers that flow along the hill. You can enjoy fresh air, green thatch grass along the path and sometimes misty fog in the morning. Best time to shoot here around 6 am 8 am, morning vibes and sunrise are great before it become crowded after that. Wear casual outfit or light weight dress, and comfortable footwear since we gonna walk quite a lot here.

11. Blangsinga Waterfall

Nearest waterfall from the city, only 40 minutes drive from Denpasar. The access to the waterfall is easy since it already organized by local village. Best time to shoot in the morning start around 8 am. If you do halfday session start with Ceking ricefield, this waterfall will be the second spot to go. The waterfall has two levels, on top we can shoot around by river bank then walk down to get the view of this majestic waterfall. Light flowy dress or just maybe simple one perfect for the place, don’t forget comfortable footwear since the surface is rocky and slippery.

12. Nyanyi Beach

West coast sunset with wide black sand along the beach, this place quite less touristy than other beach in the area. Takes only 45 – 60 minutes depend on the traffic since we gonna pass along Canggu road that well known for it’s traffic jam. The beach are where we usually finish our session, if you loved black sand beach and stay arround canggu or seminyak we recommend to take Nyanyi or Mengening as final spot. Wear anything you want to enjoy the warm sun while running or playing around with your loved one.

13. Mengening Beach

Not far from Nyanyi beach, Mengening beach located in Munggu Village, Badung. Same like Nyanyi the beach is way off the main road so you have to drive through rural area to reach the beach, so you have to decide which of these 2 beach that you want for your session. Mengening offers you coral rock view with the sunset. Although the place is a bit more crowded than Nyanyi, Mengening is one exceptional spot to do your session.

14. Melasti Beach

Located on the south side of Bali arround 1 hour drive from Denpasar. Melasti beach has several spot to explore, from white sand beach to limestone cliff.

Best time to shoot Sunset time around 4.00 – 6.00 pm. You can bring two outfit for the session here, they provide changing room since it’s one of the favorites destination for prewedding. If you stay arround sanur,Kuta, or Jimbaran area we recommend this beach to be the final spot for your session.

15. Nusa Lembongan

Small gem on the Southeast of Bali. Nusa Lembongan has been one of the favorites escape from the hecticness in main island. Just need 40 minutes by fastboat from Sanur Beach, you can explore the island pristine beach and roaming around to some favorites spot such as, Dream Beach, Devil’s Tears cliff, Mangrove forest, and the famous Yellow Bridge that connect Lembonganwith Ceningan island. For a photo session here, we must spend a night in Lembongan, so we can shoot at sunset time on the first day and chasing the sunrise on the next day.
